my beloved fripp!

This is such a cool shot of Fripp Island.
Ocean Point Golf Course is in the upper right hand corner,
Ocean Creek Golf Course is all of the green in the center,
The Cabana Club is at the bottom in the center,
the marina is center to upper left,
the bridge to get to Fripp Island is at the top left corner,
and the beach runs north and south on the east side of the island.
(and the land that surounds it all is the beautiful marsh!!)

Oh how I wish that I could be there right now :(

more tennis!

Fall means beautiful leaves and changing temperatures
AND
the tennis banquet and senior all-star tournament!

The banquet was a pitch in at the high school.

Seniors got to take their tennis balls home
with the additional...

"2012 Sectional Champs"
added to them!

Sam and Graham

Sam received the top 5% academic award in the Hoosier Heritage Conference and
Graham received a certificate (and later a plaque) for
All State First Team Academic Award.

Evan H. and Graham

Both received the Spirit Award
and

Captains Stars!

He also received his certificate for another letter,
a certificate for All District, and another for All State Honorable Mention.

The Northeast All-Stars

Graham was chosen to play in the All-Star match at Depauw University.
It was a little chilly to start out but it turned out to be a beautiful day!

Team lined up for first match introductions.

Matt and Graham

Every player plays one singles match and two doubles matches.

Graham and Ross

They got to move inside for this match.

What a great day for these boys.

It ended inside with every player receiving a plaque.
It was his last match as a high school player.

Great job Graham!
It sure has been a fun ride...can't wait until we see you decked out in red, black and white and playing for Wabash next year!!!

parents weekend!

Evan and Todd

Parents weekend at The Citadel is mainly for Freshmen (knobs) and Seniors.
Knobs get their company letter and the Seniors get THE RING!
Even though Evan is a Sophomore,
academically he is a Junior which means that he will get his ring next year!
He got measured for his senior blazer and pants last week
which he will be able to wear instead of his uniform when he goes on leave.
This is a big deal because those uniforms can be very uncomfortable.

Me, Evan and Gma Kay

The B is for Bravo which is the company Evan is in.

Evan and Gpa Ralph

These are some of the steps leading up to Evan's room.
The parents are only allowed to go up to the rooms on Matriculation Day and Parents Weekend.

This is Evan's desk.
He has letters from his girl Lizzy, Todd and one of his best friends, Molly.

His uniforms.

A new embellishment (for being cpl Cadre) to the sleeve of his dress uniform.

Also, a new embellishment to his field jacket.
He got a letter for being on the tennis team last year.

Showing Gpa his bunk.

Guns and back packs all where they should be!

After we saw his room, he wanted show us the bulletin boards that he helped paint that were hung on different floors around the barracks.

Evan's name on this board is on the bottom left under the gold stars.

Evan was on this board last year for tennis, but this year he and his roommate helped to draw and paint it.

At the top of the board you can see the name Cortez Allen.
He graduated from The Citadel in 2010 and now plays for the Steelers.

This is a board just for the Seniors.
Evan helped with the sand, the clouds
and the wave behind the surfboard.

This board recognizes those cadets whom have contracts with the armed services and for those whom have rank.

Evan was on this board for being Cadre.

Next, Evan showed us the newly remodeled canteen.

Soooo very nice!
And look at the back of those chairs...

...love it!

On our way out we ran into General the bulldog mascot!

We walked back to the barracks to see the knobs receive their pins.
It was the perfect day!

Matt, Evan and Sam

Before the knob presentation I got some picture of Evan's close friend Matt,
 and roommate Sam.

These are some more friends and classmates.

Getting ready for formation.

Evan (in the middle) at EASE while the knobs are bracing.

BIG difference from this time last year!

Knobs are ready for their "B" pin!

(E in the middle)

Then they turn and do twenty very loud push ups facing Cadre and some ranking Seniors.

After this part we went to see Evan march in the parade and then
Evan had to go to the football game, but then was able to spend the rest of the weekend with us.
He slept A LOT, but I didn't care...it was just sooooo good to see him!

(many, many thanks to Alan, Kiely and Tom for taking care of Graham and for my Dad who saved me by packing his camera...I forgot mine!!! SHOCKING I know!)
