summer on fripp island 2012

Summer on Fripp Island

2012

We went "home" to Fripp for only two weeks this summer.
Evan didn't want to go and stay a long time since he is now in Charleston for college
and
we had a to plan a time in between three weddings!
But, the two weeks we were there were full of family, friends and fun!

Alan and Kiely joined us the first week and I was so glad that they did!!
They have been so busy selling two homes, moving and planning their wedding.
Not to mention Alan's job of late was trying to save the Clevland Clinic Account!
Good news came one evening at Fripp when he finally checked his phone after being to the beach and got the word that all of his hard work had paid off...they chose to stay with Roche!
We celebrated the next night at The Dockside at Port Royal.
It is such a neat place and as you can see to your right,
people don't mind waiting to get in!
But, who would mind with views like these!

We were lucky enough to sit inside and wait.
Thank goodness because the heat was brutal!
Soooo, they have THE greatest sweet cornbread!!
It is like eating pound cake...YUM!!

After dinner, Evan and Graham thought that they would challenge one another to see who would
take a spoonful of this...
...for five dollars...yeah, not the best idea after a big meal!
Evan talking smack!

Oh. My. Goodness.
 E couldn't drink fast enough!!!!!!
G was saying, "I don't know what your problem is! I haven't even takin' a drink yet!"
SOON after that he was drinking like crazy too!

 Still drinking!
Look at Graham's bloodshot eyes and how he is sweating!!
He is now eating sugar because this is supposed to help with the burn...??
After all of that, I don't think either one of them got the five dollars from their dad! lol!
Before we left I wanted to get some pictures.
Alan and Kiely
Grand kids with gma Kay :)
 My family :)
I was looking at this picture in the car while we were heading home and
thought to myself, "Todd looks as tall as Graham?"
I knew that Graham was taller and then I zoomed in and saw this...

Poor daddy, he's just not used to his boys being taller :(
Happy 4th of July!!
On our way to the beach with my new wagon full of fun!
 Kiely and Evan

Not sure why or what Graham is trying to grab but...
they are having a good time!
To the beach!
 Best buds :)
Alan throwing a Frisbee to G!
(look at the lady in the background admiring your skills!)
 Here it comes G!
 E throwing to Alan.
 Nice catch Alan!

 Show off ;)

Next was boccie ball!!!
Todd has been dying to play this game...he is lovin' it!

Oh Evan!
Let him just throw the ball!!
(watch out knobs...he's practiced all summer!)
Grandpa even joined us at the beach!
He got an umbrella like Chad and Becky's!
(whom btw we missed terribly!)
Evan hangin' out in gpa's "tent/brella"!
There was a fly-over for the entire coastline of SC!
I shot blindly into the sky hoping that I would capture it.
I got it AND a kite flying high too!
It was so patriotic. Everyone stood up and waved their flags!
Such a great day at the beach :)
 Cooking dinner before the fireworks!

The guys went out for a golf cart ride while the burgers and dogs were grilling.
Yum!
Green beans, dogs, burgers, potato salad, fresh fruit, fresh tomatoes, and sweet tea!!
Another golf cart ride before the fireworks to see the island at sunset.

 Beautiful!
I never get tired of seeing the deer :)

We stopped at the pier to see the sunset.
The tide was definitely in!

Ahhh, Fripp sunsets over the marsh...nothin' like it!

Kyle and Evan off to karaoke night!
We went to the beach again the next day and Kiely took this picture of the canal.
I love it because I have never took a picture of this part of the island!

Last day before they head home :(
(Kiely looks like Guliana Ransick here)

That night Graham and Alan were jammin'!
Graham brought down both of his guitars, thank goodness, so that they both could play.
I fell asleep early so I didn't get to hear them play :(
I'm so glad that Alan and Graham got to spend some alone time together to get to know one another.
It's amazing how Alan just fits right in to our family!

The boys were going to head back with Alan, Kiely and Evan but...

...poor Doug was attacked by a black lab that came into our yard :(
He went into surgery that morning and had to stay two nights.
(These pictures were taken five days after the attack)
Vladimir was just pitiful.
When Todd and I came back from the animal hospital
I had to clean to get ready for our neighbors/friends to come for a visit and Vladimir looked under
every bed, then came out and barked and waited for Doug to come to him :(
We took Vlad with us when we picked up Doug two days later.
Vladimir can't believe his eyes!
Doug was sooooo happy to see his brother!!
He was kissing him all over!
Doug had to wear a t-shirt to keep V away from his wounds.
Graham text Alan this picture and here's what Alan said back...
"I went to Fripp and got attacked by a big black dog and all I got was this
stupid t-shirt!" lol!

Vladimir was wanting Doug to play sooo bad!!
He wasn't supposed to run and jump and this is how he felt about that...
 ...he just howled!!
He wanted up there so bad!
You can see where his wounds are seeping :(
Well, Tom and Karen made it down and I am ashamed to say that all the pictures that I have of them are this one and Tom's legs in the picture with Doug up above!
Here we are in Beaufort going to The Chocolate Tree after eating at The Wren...my two favorites places!!
Graham walkin' with his Gma Kay :)
When we go to Fripp we go for tennis lessons with Uncle Troy (Todd's brother).
This collage is when Graham got to play with his
Uncle in the pro exhibition that they have every Monday night in the summer.
Kyle is in the bottom left hand corner and Andrew is in the right hand corner.
They graduated and played tennis at the University of Charleston in WV.
They are interns for Troy.
Kyle has helped Troy for three years and this was Andrew's first year.

Graham played A LOT of tennis!!
So much so that on this day his upper back was really sore and Uncle Troy is trying to help.
It was sooo hot out there!
This was the last year that Troy would be helping Graham before High School season :(
Boy, how time flies!

This was Graham's last lesson and a very important one too because the Citadel coach
came over to watch him.

This is Graham and Uncle Troy talking to Kemper.
Kemper came in late so he watched Graham and Andrew hit after his hour practice with Troy.
Kemper and Graham talking after he hit with Andrew.
Gma Kay played a lot of tennis too!
 Serving the ball

Todd was out picking up Graham's tennis balls from his lesson and Troy is watching Mom volley!

Even the deer want to join in on the fun!
Finally, we left Fripp Island and went to Rome, GA for a Jr. tennis open.
Graham played in 18 singles and doubles.
He didn't advance in the singles but did in the doubles.
They randomly pick your doubles partner and he absolutely loved his pick!
This is Sacha and he was visiting the US from France!
He is staying with a host family from Juno Beach, Fl.
He and Graham hit it off right away!
He is 15 years old and was so nice.
 They played so well together.

They lost this match but you could never tell by the smiles on their faces!
On Graham's fb wall he said,
"Great match this morning. Good doubles tournament over all!
Met a great new friend from France! Tennis really does connect the world!"
<3!

What a great time. So thankful Ralph & I got to be with the family & I was able to play so much tennis & watch Graham play all of his tennis. What a pleasure to meet such a nice young man, Graham's tennis partner, @ the tournament. Could have brought him home with me. I love my family so much & am so blessed to have such a beautiful place to spend our vacations. God willing, we will have many more years to share our love with family & friends.
