PHHS Homecoming 2010

These seniors (the "O" is Caitlyn) are ready to cheer on their football team!
Evan was the emcee for the opening festivities. Homecoming is the biggest event for Student Council President and the senior float is a big deal for Senior Class President (it was a campaign promise Evan made to the seniors that they would win the float contest)...good luck E!
Tug of war was one of the festivities.  Here are the seniors beating the juniors!
The football toss was another one.  This is Caitlyn putting her softball pitching skills to work!
And the winners were Grant Hendershot and Zach Dowden...SENIORS!
Here is Ashley, Evan's date to the game and dance...I just love this girl:-)
I love this girl boy!  I thought that you were emceeing E!  I always knew that I would have a cheerleader...he is even wearing my high school colors.  Great mount girls guys!
Hey Chad, quit feeling up Chesty Chase...and Chili, what's up with your skirt!? Things are poppin' up and out of places like I've never seen!
Chili, quit checking out "Chesty" Evan just might deck ya!
Hell"O" Caitlyn!
Alright Junior cheerleaders...off of our turf!
Evan asking Cherry if he would take them around in his golf cart to go get 'em!
And they're off!!!!
And here come the juniors retaliating in a scooter!  Get 'em Chesty!
Here is Ashley telling the "cheerleaders" what cheer to do!
SENIORS WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pictures after the game with the grandma's! Priceless!
And with Caitlyn:-)

Here are some of  the real PHHS cheerleaders.  Caitlyn, Chandler, and Ashley in the first picture and sisters Desire' and Destiny.
Desire' is Graham's girlfriend.  She is off to join him at float building...good luck sophomores!

What a great night.  The weather was perfect and the memories the boys made that night were irreplaceable!

Todd and Evan are off to get the queen...I hope!  They couldn't drive Todd's Porsche because it wasn't a convertible so Tom let Todd drive his...what a friend!!
Here are Evan and Ashley at the park lining up for the parade.
Freshman, sophomore, junior princesses and senior queen candidates.
Queen candidates with their dates.
Ashley, Jamie Hubble and Kaily Hubble...Jamie has always gotten princess and Kaily is her cousin.  I hope that this is Ashley's year:-)

Mr. Hathaway (green shirt), Senora Woerner, and Mr. Lord (boys elementary school principal) were judging the floats...come on SENIORS or SOPHOMORES!
Lining up for the parade!  Karen and Tom, my Mom's and Dad.

Isn't my daddy sooo handsome:-)
Here is Graham at the park ready to walk with his float!
This is Graham's sophomore class float. It is a tornado spinning around with Mt. Vernon's helmets, shoes etc. caught in it.
Graham walking behind the float blowing the vuvuzela all the way!
The seniors float was "Out of this world."
The seniors shirts say, "We do not come in peace!"
Poor Connor!  He was "Takin' to school".  This was the theme for the junior float.
Yay Ashley and Evan...you too Todd
Game time! Desire' is the cheerleader with the black ankle brace.

Waiting for halftime to find out who is queen!

SOPHOMORES FLOAT WINS!!!!  You can see Graham in the white shirt (top middle) celebrating his win!  See, Graham...all that hard work putting glittered letters on chicken wire was worth it!  Congratulations!
Is this priceless or what?  This was Evan's expression when he heard the sophomores float won...smile E, your part is next!

YES!  ASHLEY WON!

Ooopsie! The cheerleaders ripped her crown off!

oh deer!

I looked out my window and what did I see...a mamma and her babies looking at me:-) For a moment I thought that I was on Fripp! This mamma deer and her babies were enjoying the abundant berries that are at the tip of our property and the woods behind us. I shot this picture from the kitchen window and then I just thanked God for the beauty he put before me during a "time-out" that I was taking from cleaning. This week/weekend is homecoming! I'll post pictures of powder puff game/bonfire, floats, queen crowning (good luck Ashley) and dance pictures. It is always a fun week/weekend.

please pray...

This is my dear friend Della and her son Kody.  Della was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer two weeks ago and has already had a successful surgery.  She will be facing 6 months of chemo and radiation.  Would you please remember her in your daily prayers?  She is young, and otherwise very healthy so I just know that she is going to beat this!!

Also, her son Kody plays for Wabash College on the football team.  It is Kody's senior year and he already has professional football teams looking at him.  He was in a scrimmage game last weekend and has possibly torn his ACL.  This would put him out for the rest of his college career.  Please pray for Kody that healing is quick no matter what the injury is.

The Lemond family also had another blow when Della was in the hospital.  Her sister-in-law, who has been fighting ovarian cancer for many years now, died.

God is preparing this family for great things as the devil is busy at work trying to tear them down...it won't work Satan, so back off:-)

Love you Della!

Chad left for the Navy yesterday morning!  He will be in Rhode Island for three months.  He is going in as an Officer because he earned his degree in Criminal Justice while in the Air Force for 4 years.  He is going to be a pilot in the Navy and I couldn't be more proud and frightened at the same time.

(This is Chad and Graham talking after a tennis match)

Thank you Chad for keeping our country safe and FREE!
Today is a good reminder to everyone to pray for those brave young men and women who did not hesitate to cross the pond to fight for our freedom.  God Bless our country and those who are proudly fighting for it!

summer of 2010 on fripp!!

                            FAMILY FUN!
A day at the "grass courts" (on Callawasee Island) with Grandma Kay, Uncle Troy, Aunt Theresa, Sarah and Sophie
On the links with Chad, Becky, Alan, Kiely, Todd and Evan and Graham in our backyard and at Berkley Hall on Hilton Head Island
Beach time FUN and tanning contest before's and after's! Whatever happened to the days of taking a bag of chips and Oreo's to the beach and veggin' out for the week?  Not these young one's!  Ugh! Veggin' out to them is missing a morning jog and then making it up that evening when it's cooler outside...Oh, YOUTH! I was never that disciplined!
Night time adventures of gator hunting, dancing to VERY loud music with Grandma Kay, golf cart riding, and "Dragon" Evan getting a night time snack!

Family picture time!  The lighting was against us this day because we were having to take the pictures in the morning because Todd's flight was in the afternoon (that's when the lighting is better).  Anyway, I was happy with what we got.  Alan was our official "setter-upper" as you can see him trying to set up the tri-pod and camera for that perfect shot.
          FRIENDS ON FRIPP!
Brett and Rishi rode down with us and stayed for two weeks.  While they were there Tom and Karen came down for three days. Todd took Brett and Rishi to the airport and then family came in the next day for the 4th! After that Connor flew down for a week and then flew back...(I know my way to and from the Savannah airport like I know my way to and from Marsh here at home!)  The "gang" in the golf cart are Casey, Chaise and Clay.  They have been coming to Fripp ever since they were born two and three times a year and this summer was the first time Evan and Graham met them.  What a nice family and great kids!!!

          ME AND MY HONEY
Thank you so much, honey for working so hard so that we could stay on Fripp for five weeks.  I was super exited to see Todd so I took a "face book" picture of us the night he got in. Tom took the one of Todd and I walking the marsh pier.

Todd and I just celebrated our 23 year anniversary!  I know that we only look 23 but...Ha!  I love you soooooooooooooooooooo
MUCH :-)

(fyi, just click on the collages to make them bigger...enjoy!)

7-07-10 (3:30 am)

My sweet puppy girl died July 7 while I was at Fripp.  Todd's mom sat up with her while she suffered from reactions from a seizure that started when someone set off firecrackers the day after the fourth.  I knew that when I said goodbye to her on June 16th that it would be the last time I would see her.  She had been bad for awhile from seizures so much so that that was one reason I didn't take her down south.  Like mom said to Angel the night she was dying, "Your life started out with me and now it is finishing with me".  Thank you mom for being there with our precious puppy girl.
Todd did get to see her one more time. He stopped by after his flight home from Fripp to see her.  She had been really bad but licked and licked his face and ate turkey from his hand.  He said that she ran out to the family room looking for us.  I just can't get that out of my mind:( He made a little box to bury her, her pink blanket and her "baby" which was her stuffed animal doggy.  Her grave is under a tree in our backyard where I can look at it out of my kitchen window.  She was the BEST dog ever and will never be replaced!
(We have been in SC for five weeks and taking college tours.  I will be posting pix soon!)
I meant to put this on the post and forgot.  Graham was pretty quiet when I told him about Angel dying but later that evening he expressed his feelings in this pencil drawing.  I am so glad that his talent of drawing also helps him to heal.  I think that the picture says it all!

itsy-bitsy-teeny-weeny...

Summer doesn't start until Tuesday around here but Evan thought otherwise!  Hey E, where are the guys...you devil you! Thanks Tom for sneakin' up and snappin' a pix for me!

a weekend of firsts

This past memorial day weekend was the first time that I saw Paps headstone.  I thought that it turned out really well.  The front has Mom and Dad's wedding picture etched on it.  I love this because when my boys take their families there their great-grandchildren and beyond will be able to see what their Mammy and Paps looked like.
Mom and Dad's stone sits in front of her sister's husband and grandson's stones.  You can see Evan looking Derrick's stone in the background.  Derrick was Evan's age when he died.  He was driving on a country road and swerved to miss a dog and hit a tree.  It still doesn't seem real.

This is the back of the stone.  The picture of Christ was put on there because Todd's dad always carried this same picture in his wallet...my boys do the same:)  Todd's mom always says, "Take God with you", when we part and I have peace knowing that they do in more ways than one.  Thanks Pappaw:)

It was also the first time that I experienced dining in a suite at Hoosier Park.  Tom and Karen are part owners of Wayne the Lefty.  Their horse made the cut to race in the Hoosier Cup race at Hoosier Park!  We dined in the suite, walked to the holding area to see the horses before they raced, and experienced the thrill of winning (Todd won a trifecta...Paps would've loved it!).  When you are with owners you are treated like royalty.  Free food and drinks...really, anything your little heart desires.
Then it was off to a more familiar Indiana track for yet another first.  The tennis team earned money by picking up trash at the Indy 500 track the day after the race.  In the above picture you can see the grand stand section of the bleachers.  We were responsible for cleaning up four sections which is about the last 1/4 section under the over hang to the track fence and to the track road (back side of bleachers) to where the overhang stops.  I am waiting on some pictures of that great fun filled beer smellin' chicken pickin' up day! When I get them I will post.
We picked up aluminum cans first and then raked, and swept all of the chicken, newspapers, diapers, peanut shells etc. to the isles and bagged it.  Our last sweep up and down the rows was with a leaf blower to assure we got all trash up. We arrived there at 7:00am and left at 12:30 pm.  We hope to raise around $1,200!
I guess it was worth the beer can full of pee that spilled on my leg and shoes...Hey Tom, could you be part owner of an Indy car so I can just chuck my chicken leg on the ground and leave?

happy memorial day weekend!

The roses this spring have been gorgeous!

Ahhhhh...look what's open! I just love this time of year!

So glad that the chaise lounges aren't filled with snow.  Can't wait to use them...hopefully this weekend!
Happy Memorial Day weekend!  I am mindful that I can enjoy all of this because of those who fight to keep us safe and keep our country free...something that I am afraid a lot of people can't grasp which saddens me.  My prayers are with those men and women (and their families) serving in the mission to keep us free, those who have served and those who are about to serve (again).  GOD BLESS AMERICA!

such a blessing!

I couldn't wait another minute to post a painting that I received today.  My neighbor/friend Karen painted me this picture for our Fripp home.  I am so touched and wanted to share her talent with all of you.  Thank you Karen for giving me/us such a gift...I will treasure it always:)  You are such a blessing!

If you look at the bottom right you will see this abandoned shack...it's my favorite part of the painting.  I did a close up of it so you could see it better.  I had to shoot down onto the painting because it can't be moved, due to drying, for a couple weeks.  I also love the waves in the ocean.  Karen has never been to Fripp but she definitely captured its beauty.
What a talent!  I will love looking at this forever and I so appreciate the hands that made it and the heart that went into it:)

senior class president?

Evan is running for Senior Class President and elections are tomorrow.  He passed out some t-shirts that he made his friends to wear to school tomorrow to remind everyone to vote.  They all were black shirts with different colored lettering. I wish that I would have gotten a picture of them all but I couldn't find my camera card (I know, my heart stopped too!)  Hopefully, Evan will get a group shot tomorrow. Good luck Evan! Oh, and congratulations on being elected Student Council President for 2010-11 (can anyone say "over achiever")!

college graduation!

Last Sunday we finally celebrated Chad's graduation from college!  While he was in the Air Force he earned his degree in criminal justice.
I couldn't be more proud of my nephew!!!!  What a role model he has always been for my boys.
Now, he is off to the Navy as an officer and a pilot!!!  What a dream come true for him:)  His mother would be so proud of him.  I cannot wait to go to his graduation from naval training.  I love you "Datch"!
Kiely, I am soooo proud of you too!  She is working a full time job, pursuing her MBA (and making straight A's at it I might add), volunteers for the Lucky Lab program that helps to place orphaned Labrador Retrievers, and Habitat for Humanity.  She recently met Alan, who is an answer to her prayers (and her grandmother's and mine).  What a sweet couple:)  Last Sunday was filled with so much fun and so many blessings!
